450,000 terracotta bricks signed by Terreal, shine under the Tuscan sun

THE "FLOWER BOTTA". Such is the nickname of the buildings that make up the new complex of the Biomedicine Faculty of Biology and House teachers of Padua. The reason ? The singular petals shape of the building, designed by the Swiss architect Mario Botta. And who says flower, said colour. The architect choose the Terreal facing bricks to dress up the facades of almost 18.5 meters high. A reaffirmed trust since Mario Botta had already collaborated with Terreal for its work at the Marconi Gallery in Milan, Santa Maria Nuova church of Arezzo, and especially the Citadel of Treviso Institutions. Here, it is not less than 450,000 bricks that were needed!"

Tradition and technicality alliance: that is how one could define these façades.
The beautiful natural red colour of the terracotta bricks and mortar is the result of a mix of pigments and additives to the clay. These bricks are manufactured without extrusion to increase the weather resistance and ensure high durability without surface treatment. The secret of this architectural success? The beautiful harmony between volumes and materials. A beautiful motivation for the 3,000 students who will soon invest the buildings!
