The Saint-Papoul quarry is located in the Aude region, about ten kilometres from Castelnaudary. It is part of the "Carrières du Sud" group, which includes the other quarries of Bordeneuve, Colomiers and Saint-Amans-Soult (Rieussequel) in the South of France, Chagny in Burgundy and Peralada and Pinarejos in Spain.
The Saint-Papoul quarries represent the most important site for the extraction of raw materials for 7 factories in France and the La Pera quarry in Spain.
